[hʌȖ'geərɪən 'strɪȖ kwɔː'tet], 1935 von Sándor Végh u. a. in Budapest gegründetes Streichquartett, dessen Leitung 1937 an Zoltán Székely (1. Violine) überging; seit 1950 in den USA. Dem Hungarian String Quartet, das sich 1970 auflöste, gehörten außer Székely zuletzt Michael Kuttner (2. Violine), Dénes Koromzay (Viola) und Gabriel Magyar (Violoncello) an. Das Repertoire umfasste v. a. Werke von L. van Beethoven, B. Bartók und zeitgenössischen Komponisten.
